NefretitiM: What inspired you to write Blood Fantasy?

A.C GreenLee: I started writing Blood Fantasy when an East Indian friend of mine mentioned that she couldn’t find any books, especially romance, with a heroine that looked like her. I sympathized with her and decided that I was going to write about an intelligent, plus sized woman who ethnically resembled her. I want to make sure that every woman can read at least one of my stories and see herself in the main character. Diversity is important to me in regular life, and it’s starting to positively affect my writing.

NefretitiM: How did you come up with the title for Blood Fantasy?

A.C GreenLee: Titles are always tricky but, honestly, I had the title for this story before I even started writing it. In Blood Fantasy the main character, Dr. Ava Khan, finds herself fantasizing about what it would be like to be bitten by her patient Dimitri Freysson, an alien who’s species survives off the blood of others. She knows its taboo, but the thought is as thrilling as the beautiful man who won’t stop hitting on her.

NefretitiM: What genre would you say Blood Fantasy fits into?

 A.C GreenLee: Science fiction, fantasy, paranormal, romance…This story, while being a novelette and not nearly as dense as a traditional novel, is the true definition of a hybrid. You’ll find a little bit of everything in Blood Fantasy, from the heavy vampire theme, to alien life forms and even a little medical/military drama thrown into the mix.  If you’re into romance and supernatural beings, this story is for you.

NefretitiM: What influenced your interest in writing?

A.C GreenLee: Honestly, it had to be my characters. I was an only child, so, making up imaginary people to talk to and keep me company became second nature to me. It felt natural to start writing down our adventures and, eventually, it turned into a full time career.

NefretitiM: What is the writing process like for you?

A.C GreenLee: Lots of brainstorming and planning. I like to have everything mapped out in front of me before I start writing. Or…Not. Actually, I usually write maybe a paragraph about a story idea before I jump right into the writing process.

NefretitiM: What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

A.C GreenLee: I paint. I draw. I play a lot of Minecraft and the Sims. I’m a complete computer and video gamer. Whenever I’m not writing, I’m playing games or designing graphics in Photoshop. My laptop is permanently attached to my hip, haha.

NefretitiM: I love the Sims as well and I must say you are quite the renaissance Sim I mean woman. What tips or words of encouragement do you have for other writers?

A.C GreenLee: Keep going. All first drafts suck. Never let anyone tell you to quit or give up. Even if you’re not going to publish it or you don’t think someone will publish it, WRITE IT ANYWAY. Write your stories for yourself first and eventually you will find someone who loves them as much as you do.
